Teacher CertificationA Statement of Professionalism - A Commitment to Excellence The Professional Certification Program exists to improve the level of professionalism within the field of applied music teaching. It benefits the members of the profession by providing prestige, recognition, and the potential for student recruitment and increased earning power. For the public, certification helps readily identify highly qualified applied music teachers in the community. All applied music teachers actively engaged in the profession are eligible for MTNA Professional Certification. The designation of Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) is given to successful candidates who meet the required standards. The Professional Certification program is administered by the Music Teachers National Association. For information and application forms, check the MTNA website at http://www.mtnacertification.org or contact Melissa Curtice or 1-888/512-5278 ext.237. Questions regarding certification may also be directed to the CAPMT State Certification Chair, Susan Dersnah Fee. Looking for a certified teacher to teach your child or yourself? Go to http://www.mtna.org (Find A Teacher) for information on how to choose a music teacher. This site also includes a list of nationally certified teachers. |
