CAPMT Festival Celebrations

In Piano and Ensemble Festivals, students are rated 1–5, with those receiving a 5 being invited (but not required) to perform at the CAPMT Festival Celebrations.

The CAPMT Piano and Ensemble Festivals serve as qualifiers for the CAPMT Festival Celebrations, but students are welcome to choose open repertoire to perform.  Students may perform repertoire from the Piano & Ensemble Festivals, or a new piece that they are excited to share!

NOTE: Teachers with participating students are asked to volunteer on the day of the event to help it run smoothly.
These large events cannot be run without your help!

Registration Deadline: December 17, 2023 (Sun) at 11:59 pm PST
(No late submissions accepted.)

Please make sure to register for the correct event (North vs. South) and check registration details carefully -- NO changes can be made once submitted.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Do students have to perform one of the evaluator chosen pieces?
While the Festivals qualify you for Festival Celebrations, students may choose to perform any repertoire (including original compositions, arrangements, etc.), even if they did not perform that piece at the Festivals.  This gives students, for example, the opportunity to perform a new piece they have learned recently and are excited to share.

I am a teacher and I cannot volunteer on the day of the event, can my student(s) still perform?
Teacher volunteers are essential for helping us run this event smoothly and to keep it affordable for students. Due to CAPMT liability insurance, all volunteers must be CAPMT members.  Parents, students, and non-CAPMT teachers unfortunately cannot volunteer.  If you cannot volunteer on the day of the event, please find a CAPMT teacher that can volunteer in your place, or check with the Festival Celebration chair to see if there are alternate ways you can contribute.

What time do students need to show up?
Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled recital time.

Will there be warm-up rooms?
There will unfortunately be no warm-up rooms provided.

When will we find out which recital(s) we will be performing in?Please keep an eye out to hear from your Festival Celebration chair within 1-2 weeks after registration closes.  If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your chair.

Can we request a piano accompanist?
We do not provide accompanists.  Your teacher may reach out to their Chapter President or District Director for further assistance if one is needed.

Can teachers accompany their students?
Anyone can accompany students for the accompanied piece.  It is recommended that someone that is not the student's teacher accompany (for a more full experience) but it is also okay for the teacher to accompany.  Otherwise, common accompanists include other students from the same studio, siblings/parents, or in very advanced levels, professional accompanists.
